So I got a computer virus. I'm pretty sure it's from fuckin' myspace, as I was doing nothing else at the time it happened.

I scanned and found some trojan files, but I am pretty sure I still have it because it won't let me update my antivirus or go to windows update. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

What I would do is download autoruns, a utility that will tell you every friggin' thing that is starting itself up when you boot up the computer. Some program/bug is starting up that is preventing you from updating your antivirus.

Using autoruns is tedious, but may be necessary. The program readout will give you a long list of services, dll's, and executable files to check out. Make sure they're valid. The ones that aren't, you can delete.

Or if you don't want to do it, let your boyfriend do it, to prove he's a real man. haha

Here's the place to get it:

If you have a rootkit, which is a sneakier kind of virus, you might need another utility to detect that like RootkitRevealer.
